Our History
Kingdom Now Church began in January 2007 as a Bible Institute founded by Bishop Jerry Hutchins and First Lady Sheila Hutchins. The institute was established as an advanced biblical training program for members of Timothy Baptist Church in Athens, Georgia, who resided in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Weekly classes were held each Wednesday evening, and in July 2007, Bishop Hutchins shared with the congregation his conviction that God was leading him to
establish a ministry in metropolitan Atlanta. The vision was embraced by the members of Timothy Baptist Church, who graciously adjusted their Sunday worship schedule to support the new work.
After more than a year of searching for a suitable location, Kingdom Now secured its first ministry facility at 6794 Covington Highway in Lithonia, Georgia. The church officially began holding worship services there on the second Sunday in November 2008. With a clearly defined mission, vision, statement of faith, covenant agreement, and committed leadership under Bishop and First Lady Hutchins, Kingdom Now quickly began establishing its presence and purpose within the community.
To commemorate the launch of the ministry, Kingdom Now hosted a series of dedication services during the first two weeks of December 2008. These services featured powerful ministry from Pastor Richard B. Haynes, Pastor Jesse Curney, Overseer Stephen B. Hall, and Bishop Paul S. Morton.
Kingdom Now remained at the Covington Highway location until May 24, 2009, before relocating to 1805 Shackleford Court in Norcross, Georgia. The ministry continued there until
January 2018, when services moved to South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Georgia.
Worship services were held at the school until March 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic forced churches across the nation to suspend in-person gatherings. Kingdom Now conducted its final service at the school on the first Sunday of March 2020 before transitioning fully to virtual worship through various social media platforms. As pandemic conditions began to improve, Kingdom Now partnered with Stronghold Christian Church in Lithonia, Georgia, utilizing its youth facility for in-person worship services beginning
in July 2021. Initially meeting intermittently, the congregation later agreed to resume weekly in-person worship beginning April 3, 2022.
Although the pandemic presented many challenges, it also created new opportunities for ministry growth. While in-person attendance declined during that season, Kingdom Now experienced significant growth in its virtual audience and expanded its outreach efforts to serve individuals
and families impacted by economic hardship and uncertainty. Throughout these transitions, the citizens of Kingdom Now remained faithful in their support and commitment to the ministry.
A major milestone in the church’s history was reached on March 4, 2026, when Kingdom Now successfully closed on the purchase of its own ministry facility located at 4769 Centerville Highway in Snellville, Georgia. After worshiping at Stronghold Christian Church from April 2022 through March 29, 2026, the ministry officially transitioned into its new home, marking a significant chapter of growth and stability in the life of the church.
Today, Kingdom Now continues to pursue its mission:
“To bring into manifestation the prayer as Jesus taught the disciples to pray: ‘Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’”
Its vision remains: “To develop the family, the Body of Christ, and the community so that all three function together in unified effort to make earth reflect heaven.”
The purpose of Kingdom Now is: “To advance the Kingdom of God through in-reach, outreach, up-reach, and down-reach.”
